The School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), in collaboration with the School of Management at Mae Fah Luang University, will co‑organise the 4th "One Belt One Road One Tourism" (OBOROT) International Conference in Chiang Rai, Thailand, from 11 to 13 December 2026.
Nestled in northern Thailand, Chiang Rai captivates visitors with its rich cultural tapestry, tranquil mountain vistas
and vibrant Lanna heritage. Attendees will have a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the city's artistic wonders, which range from the dazzling White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) and mesmerising Blue Temple (Wat Rong Suea Ten) to the thought-provoking Black House Museum (Baan Dam). Beyond these iconic landmarks, Chiang Rai offers lush tea plantations, traditional hill-tribe villages, soothing hot springs and breath-taking river valleys, which create a harmonious blend of history, culture
and natural beauty and a perfect backdrop for our conference.
This year's Conference will focus on the theme of "Development, Marketing, Sustainability". The aim of the conference is to provide a dynamic platform for academics, industry practitioners and government representatives to exchange ideas, present their cutting‑edge research and explore innovative approaches to sustainable and inclusive tourism development.
