IMPACT2023 Explored Tourism and Hospitality in the Post-Pandemic Era

Organised by the SHTM and its Hospitality and Tourism Research Centre together with STR and managed by a group of talented SHTM undergraduate students from the Practice of Special Events Class, the IMPACT2023 Conference was successfully held on 6-8 December at Hotel ICON, Hong Kong.

As a leading school for hospitality and tourism education, the SHTM is proud to have initiated the IMPACT series of conferences to provide a platform for hospitality and tourism stakeholders to discuss the unprecedented challenges imposed on the hospitality and tourism industry by the global pandemic.

Rosewood Day Connecting Students and Hoteliers

Following the success of the inaugural Rosewood Day in 2022, the SHTM and Rosewood Hong Kong again joined hands to host this signature event on 24 November 2023. The event commenced with inspiring speeches by Professor Kaye Chon, SHTM Dean, Chair Professor and Walter and Wendy Kwok Family Foundation Professor in International Hospitality Management, and Mr Hugo Montanari, Managing Director of Rosewood Hong Kong.

17th UNWTO/PATA Forum on Tourism Trends and Outlook Successfully Held in Guilin

The 17th UNWTO/PATA Forum on Tourism Trends and Outlook was held in Guilin, China from 26 to 28 October 2023. Jointly organised by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), the forum was co-organised by the Guilin Municipal People's Government and the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in collaboration with the SHTM.

CHE Workshop Offered Professional Recognition to Hospitality Educators

From 19 to 22 December 2023, the SHTM hosted a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) workshop leading to professional recognition. The workshop was led by Dr Fred Mayo on behalf of the School and the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute.

Learn at Any Time and Anywhere with the MicroMasters in International Hospitality Management

The SHTM's MicroMasters in International Hospitality Management , a unique and highly successful Master's programme offered on the world-renowned edX online learning platform, continues to attract learners from around the world.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION

Dean Kaye Chon and Dr Ekkachai Mahaek, Professor of Practice and Vice President of Chiang Mai University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 7 December 2023, to foster academic and research collaboration.

Mr Noor Ahmad Hamid, Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Asia Travel Association visited the School.

Professor Cathy Hsu, Dr Neil Li, Dr Jaehee Gim, Dr YooHee Hwang, Dr Michael Lin and Dr Emily Chen attended the 3rd Global Congress of Special Interest Tourism & Hospitality in Macau from 10 to 12 November 2023.
