World Summit for Deans of Independent Schools of Hospitality and Tourism

Schools of hospitality and tourism within comprehensive university settings typically have common opportunities and face similar challenges. Hosted by the SHTM, the first ever World Summit for Deans of Independent Schools of Hospitality and Tourism was held at Hotel ICON on 27-29 May 2018, providing a unique platform for deans of 40 institutions from more than 20 countries and regions to discuss, define and share solutions to common issues in an effort to promote the growth of hospitality and tourism studies within comprehensive universities.
MicroMasters in International Hospitality Management - Summer and Autumn Runs



Responding to popular demand, the SHTM has relaunched its MicroMasters in International Hospitality Management programme in 2018, providing more opportunities for those who were eager to join the programme last time but were unable to.
SHTM to Organise "One Belt, One Road, One Tourism" International Conference in Indonesia

The "One Belt and One Road" initiative proposed by China in 2013 has origins dating back to the days of expedition and travel by Marco Polo. Today, it is a manifestation of China's neighbourhood diplomacy fostering friendship along with economic and tourism development.
2018 Hong Kong PolyU Winter School®




The Hong Kong PolyU Winter School® is the SHTM's flagship executive development programme, staged each year to allow senior industry executives to interact with leading educators and practitioners in the field of hospitality.


ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION

Ms Thanakarn Bella Vongvisitsin, a research student in the Ph.D. in Hotel and Tourism Management programme received the PATA/IGLTA Foundation Sponsorship to attend the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association's 35th Annual Global Convention in Toronto, Canada on 9-12 May 2018.

Professor Robert Brooks, Interim Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics, Monash University and Mr Andrew Peters, Director of New Business and Strategic Partnership, visited the School and its facilities.

Professor Haiyan Song, Dr Basak Denizci Guillet and Dr Ksenia Kirillova attended the Greater Bay Area Collaborative Tourism Research Forum in Macau on 8 May 2018. Professor Song participated a panel session on the topic "Tourism Opportunities and Challenges under the Greater Bay Area Integration".
