Dr Stephen Pratt, Dr Wantanee Suntikul, Dr Denis Tolkach and Ph.D. student Ms Christine Zeng attended the International Conference on Sustainable Tourism and Global-Local Understanding in Hong Kong on 11-13 May 2016. Dr Pratt and Dr Suntikul presented a co-authored paper entitled "Chinese Tourists on Safari: Opportunities and Inconsistencies". Dr Pratt, Dr Tolkach and Ms Zeng presented a co-authored paper entitled "Tourists (Un)Ethical Decision-making".
Professor Brian King delivered a keynote speech on "The Development of Integrated Resorts in Asia-Pacific: Embracing Bleisure & Edutainment" at the 2016 International Conference of Sport, Leisure and Hospitality Management in Taipei, Taiwan on 13-15 May.
Dr Young Choi and Dr Chloe Lau attended the 2016 Academy of Global Hospitality and Tourism Conference organised by the Korean Hospitality and Tourism Academe in Seoul, Korea on 20-23 May. Dr Choi presented a paper entitled "Comparing Willingness-to-pay between Residents and Non-residents: Case of the Grand Canal in China". Dr Lau presented a co-authored paper entitled "Travel Characteristics of Potential Peer-to-peer Accommodation Rental Customer: The Case of Hong Kong".
Dr Sam Kim chaired the concurrent session on the theme of "The Role of Culture and Economy in Development of Urban Tourism (Case Study, City of Tabriz)" and presented papers entitled "Positioning and Branding of "A" as a Global Tourism Destination" and "Research Methodology: Sampling Method" at the 18th International Joint World Cultural Tourism Conference in Bali, Indonesia on 20-22 May 2016.
Dr Denis Tolkach gave a lecture on "Sustainable Tourism Development: From Global to Local" and presented a paper entitled "Challenges of Collaboration in Community-based Tourism" at the Workshop on Sustainable Tourism: Policies for Delivering Social, Environmental and Economic Benefits in the Asia and the Pacific Region in Jeju, Korea on 24-27 May 2016.
Professor Kaye Chon, Professor Cathy Hsu, Professor Rob Law, Ms Faye Chen and Ph.D. students Ms Soey Lei, Mr Jason Qian and Ms Elaine Zhang attended the Asia Pacific Tourism Association 2016 Annual Conference in Beijing, China on 1-4 June. Professor Law presented co-authored papers entitled "Tourist Information Search and Share in Different Stages of a Trip" and "Analysis of Hotel Website Visitors' Online Behavior". Ms Lei and Ms Zhang presented a co-authored paper entitled "Luxury Travelers: Travel Experience with Mobile Device".
Dr Karin Weber and MSc student Ms Fiona Hu presented a co-authored paper entitled "Meeting Planners' Experiences of Multiple Service Failures: Advancing a Dynamic Model of Organizational Justice" at the World Education Congress in Atlantic City, USA on 11-14 June 2016.
Professor Haiyan Song and Professor Cathy Hsu attended the 47th Travel and Tourism Research Association Annual International Conference in Vail, Colorado, USA on 14-16 June 2016. Professor Song presented a co-authored paper entitled "The Economic Impact of Film Tourism: The Case of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit". Professor Hsu presented a co-authored paper entitled "Resident Sentiment: Preliminary Conceptualization and Measurement".
Dr Barry Mak spoke a topic on "One Belt One Road and the Hong Kong Tourism Industry" at the Relaunching One Belt One Road - 2016 International Tourism Forum on New Business Opportunities at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 16 June.
Professor Hanqin Qiu attended the 2016 International Conference on Sustainable Development in Tourism Transport and Technology in Amsterdam, Netherland on 16-18 June.
Professor Haiyan Song presented a co-authored paper entitled "Does Objective Information Affect Consumers' Willingness to Pay for Wines? - An Experiment" at the 10th Annual Conference of the American Association of Wine Economists in Bordeaux, France on 21-25 June 2016.
Dr Yonghee Kim attended the 2nd World Conference on Business and Management & Global Great Debate 2016 in Da Nang, Vietnam on 22-25 June.
Dr Karin Weber presented a paper entitled "Investigating the Effect of Multiple Service Failure Events on Consumer Evaluations of Strategic Alliance Entities" at the 25th Annual Frontiers in Service Conference in Bergen, Norway on 23-26 June 2016.
Professor Brian King delivered a keynote speech entitled "Co-operation in Tourism Education: Asia, Europe and the World" at the 2nd Annual Conference of Euro-Asia Tourism Studies Association in Portugal on 26-30 June 2016.
Professor Hanqin Qiu, Dr Sam Kim and Dr Lorenzo Masiero attended the 6th International Conference on Tourism in Naples, Italy on 29 June - 2 July 2016. Professor Qiu spoke on "The Evolution of China's Outbound Travel and its Impact on the Destinations". Dr Masiero presented a co-authored paper entitled "Hotel Guests' Satisfaction: The Path Towards Excellence".
Professor Rob Law presented a co-authored paper entitled "A Study of Hong Kong Hospitality and Tourism University Programs" at the 23rd International Conference on Learning in Vancouver, Canada on 13-15 July 2016.
Dr Alice Hon and Ms Clare Fung presented a co-authored paper entitled "Investigating a Sleep Management Program in the Hong Kong Hotel Industry" at the International Conference on Social Science in Hokkaido, Japan on 19-21 July 2016.
Professor Haiyan Song presented a co-authored paper entitled "The Economic Impact of Event Tourism between Chinese Urban and Rural Households" at the University of Surrey's School of Hospitality and Tourism Management Conference 2016 in Guildford, Surrey, UK on 19-22 July.
Professor Kaye Chon gave two seminars on "Professional Development in Hospitality and Tourism" and "Innovations in Hospitality and Tourism" at Shandong University in Weihai, China on 20-22 July 2016. Professor Chon was appointed "Guest Professor" by Shandong University (Weihai) Business School.
Dr Suna Lee and Dr Vincent Tung presented a co-authored paper entitled "A New CSR Performance Measurement for an Independent Hotel: A Balanced-scorecard Approach" at the 2016 Annual ICHRIE Summer Conference and Marketplace in Dallas, USA on 20-22 July.
Dr Mimi Li attended the 2016 Global Marketing Conference in Hong Kong on 21-24 July.
