Hong Kong's condensed living spaces pose unique challenges for designers. A group of Social Design (BA) students explored this topic by interviewing Tsuen Wan's subdivided flat residents. They discovered how residents overcome challenges through building networks, sharing resources, and participating in community activities. By utilising second-hand goods, repair practices, and mutual support, these residents demonstrate resilience and creativity, transforming limited spaces into opportunities for connection, adaptability, and growth.
In Sunday’s Ming Pao, the students shared their insights on improving the lives of those living in these small flats, offering valuable ideas for better living. Click to read full story now.
