Overview

Reef of Hope - Artificial reef designed using a topological approach to restore oyster habitats, enhance water flow, and support larvae growth made from marine-safe materials that release no microplastics.

Oyster reefs are vital to healthy marine ecosystems providing habitat for marine life, supporting fish populations, filtering water, and protecting shorelines. However, globally, more than 85% of oyster reefs have disappeared in recent decades, and locally, most remain outside of protected areas, facing threats from pollution, overharvesting, and urban development.

Team Orz Limited is a cutting-edge environmental innovation company dedicated to restoring marine ecosystems through topological design and advanced technologies. Its mission is to develop sustainable, nature-inspired solutions that contribute to the conservation and regeneration of oyster reefs, thereby improving water quality and promoting marine biodiversity.

Artificial Reef in Topological Approach is a pioneering artificial oyster reef restoration system developed by Team Orz. Designed using advanced topological algorithms and produced through 3D printing technology, Eco-Reef 3D mimics the natural structure of oyster reefs, providing an ideal habitat for marine life and improving water quality through natural filtration processes. The product not only enhances biodiversity in degraded marine ecosystems but also contributes to shoreline stabilisation and climate change mitigation by capturing carbon and supporting healthy oyster populations.

The core technology focuses on the use of 3D printing and topological design to create artificial oyster reefs that enhance marine biodiversity. The artificial reefs are designed to mimic the natural structures of oyster beds, promoting better water filtration, protecting shorelines, and providing habitats for marine species. With a data-driven approach, the team continuously improve their reef designs based on real-time ecological data. In addition, Team Orz offer educational workshops on marine conservation and STEM subjects, integrating hands-on learning experiences with cutting-edge environmental technologies.
