Academic and Education Development

2004

Launched the first Master in Physical Therapy (MPT) programme in Chinese Mainland.

1995

Prof. Christina Hui-Chan joined as Head and Founding Professor of RS in 1995.

1992

Provision of postgraduate diploma scheme (PgD scheme in Health Care). 

1991

Both OT and PT programmes were upgraded to the Bachelor of Science degree programmes (BSc programme).

1978

The Hong Kong Polytechnic (the former PolyU) first offered Professional Diploma in Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physiotherapy (PT).

2019

Awarded the Second Prize in the 2018 National Teaching Achievement Award (High Education) by the Ministry of Education.

2018

RS admitted first PhD student under the HK Fellowship PhD scheme and
admitted two students who are PolyU’s top DSE scorers both in PT programme. 

2017

Prof. Hector Tsang took up the headship of the Department in July 2017.

2016

UGC Teaching Award recipient.

2011

Offered the 2-year Entry-Level MPT (HK) and MOT (HK) programmes.

Future

RS will move to Ho Man Tin campus which targeted to be ready by 2026

RS is ranked No. 1 in China and Asia in OT and PT specialities, according to EduRank

2020

Students have been winning the Innovation and Technology Fund since its establishment in 2011.  

2019

Over half of Year 1 students have been awarded PolyU’s Entry Scholarships for Outstanding Admittees in the Academic Year 2019-2020.

2019

High-Flyer Mentorship Program
aims to provide a platform for the top Year 1 students either in academic or sport to meet with the elite alumni from the physiotherapy and occupational therapy sectors.
