Vision
To become a forward-looking and proactive administrative department in the University, rendering quality services that consistently meet/surpass customer expectations at justifiable costs.
 
Mission
To provide effective and efficient administrative services in support of research and research development, in line with the University's strategic goals.
 
Strategic Goals
a. To support the Research Committee (RC) and Area of Excellence Committee (AoEC) in:

  • keeping research policies updated to meet the challenges ahead;
  • launching new initiatives and ensuring their effective implementation;
  • conducting monitoring and assessment exercises to ensure research quality;
  • providing information and support to enable the RC, AoEC and their associated Committees to carry out their functions and/or fulfill their obligations

b. To facilitate research endeavors undertaken by academic staff through:

  • providing information, services and support in application for funding, both internally and externally;
  • facilitating their management and monitoring of progress of their research projects.

 
Role
The RO is responsible for the administration and support of internally funded research projects and of all other projects where the grant provider expects the University to monitor the research progress of the grant recipients. Its functions include research facilitation, quality assurance and project maintenance. It is the Secretariat of the University's Research Committee and Areas of Excellence Committee. The office also takes care of the administrative support of University research facilities.
