Magnetron sputtering coating technology
The project aims to investigate the potential benefits of incorporating metallised textiles in the fashion design process through the application of sputtering technology. This technology applies ultra-thin, nano-scale metal films onto textiles through magnetron sputtering coating. A series of treatment will be undertaken, including pre-treatment, sputtering, and post-treatment.
Deposited metal particles are dense and evenly distributed, allowing them to coat different textile structures and fibers effectively. This innovative approach enables the production of metallised textiles with properties such as anti-static, bacteria growth control, and radiation shielding. Besides, the technology is a non-aqueous process and therefore environmentally friendly.
The resulting materials have a soft hand feel, unique decorative effects, and vast application potential. Due to the super functional properties and the novel decorative effects, metallized textiles can be used for luxury fashion designs, such as evening gowns, and various home textile products, such as curtains and furniture.
