“PolyU has been actively engaged in drug discovery – the first three drug candidates from Hong Kong which were successfully granted USFDA investigational new drug (IND) approval were directly developed or substantially supported by PolyU. These developments have been accelerated in recent years, especially through the facilitation of ITDO. With their domain expertise and global networks, ITDO helps to connect researchers like us with the real world, and translate our innovation into real applications. My team and some of my colleagues are also involved in the partnership platforms co-established with ITDO – such as the Respiratory Virus Research Foundation, The First GBA Biotechnology and Translational Medicine International Collaboration, the PolyU – Fraunhofer – KIT Life Sciences and Engineering R&D Platform, and also the Joint Centre for Immunotherapy. These key channels push our innovations to the next level and bring about true global impact by partaking in world-class research collaborations. I hope more channels like these will be created for us and look forward to the upcoming projects! ” |
