香港理工大学（理大）一直致力推动医疗创新及跨学科研究，尤其在医学、健康及人工智能赋能医疗技术创新等前沿领域取得突破，把科研成果转化为具影响力的解决方案。理大在最新一轮医疗衞生研究基金拨款中，有25个研究项目获得支持，总资助金额达2,291万港元。项目涵盖人工智能赋能医学、基层医疗、精准医疗和预防医学等，充分展现理大在医疗健康领域的跨学科研究实力。
理大获资助的研究项目涉及先进诊断技术、復康训练和管理、创新心理健康治疗方案，以及照顾者支援和以社区为本的护理模式等不同范畴，涵盖生物医学工程、医疗科技及资讯、护理学、眼科视光学、康復治疗科学、语言科学及技术及食品科学及营养等学科。
理大学者致力将先进科技应用于医疗创新，包括利用人工智能进行单细胞监测，以早期侦测感染相关的血栓；引入沉浸式虚拟实境技术，为患有轻度认知障碍症的长者进行认知刺激治疗；以及开发流动健康平台，以支援产后抑鬱及儿科病症管理等。
理大多个研究项目亦聚焦于转化医学应用，包括用于评估肝癌放射治疗的磁力共振指纹技术（Time-resolved MRF）；针对源自尘螨且在人类微生物群中发现的新型巴通体细菌（Bartonella bacterium）进行多组学分析；以及针对急性泌尿系统毒性反应的个人化预测等。此外，多个获资助项目亦专注慢性疾病管理与復健治疗，例如为中风后疲劳、膝关节炎及上肢运动功能恢復等提供介入方案。

医疗衞生研究基金由医务衞生局管理，旨在建立科研能力，鼓励、促进和支援医疗衞生研究，透过建构并应用从本地医疗衞生研究所得、以实证为本的科学知识，协助制订医疗政策、改善市民健康、强化医疗系统、改进医疗实务、提升医疗护理水平及质素，以及推动在临床医疗服务方面取得卓越成就。
