Summary
To promote research and development (R&D) on decarbonisation and green technologies and their applications, the Government has injected a total funding of $400 million into the Green Tech Fund (GTF) to fund R&D projects which help Hong Kong decarbonise and enhance environmental protection. Local public research institutions, R&D centres and private companies undertaking these projects can get better and more focused funding support, so as to expedite low-carbon transformation and enhance environmental protection in Hong Kong.
The fourth round of applications for GTF is now open for application until 20 March 2024. Priority R&D themes to be supported by the GTF include net-zero electricity generation, energy saving and green buildings, green transport and waste reduction. Fundingsupport for GTF project submitted by universities ranges from HK$2.5 million to HK$30 million per project with a maximum project duration of 5 years. For details, please refer to the attached RIO’s call for applications for GTF in fourth round of exercise dated 3 January 2024 and the GTF website www.gtf.gov.hk.
