Summary

9 PolyU scientists were awarded the commemorative medal for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China for their contribution to national science and technology development on the eve of the national day; awardees include PolyU President Prof. TENG Jin-guang as well as Prof. SHI Wen-zhong and Prof. LI Zhi-lin from the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics. PolyU has been the “witness”, “participant” and “beneficiary” of the country’s reform, with its latest research technologies now being applied in China's space and aviation industry, railway development, communications, artificial intelligence, food safety and many others. Prof. Alexander WAI Ping-kong, Vice President (Research Development), expressed that PolyU shall continue to capitalise on its expertise and strengths, and complement with Mainland partners to advance development initiatives in the Belt and Road and the Greater Bay Area, and affirmed that the PolyU research community will continue to play a key role in the nation's development.
