Every year, about 10 million people succumb to the disease, accounting for one in every six deaths globally. One of the most common treatment options is radiation therapy, which approximately 60% of cancer patients receive. Radiation therapy uses beams of intense radiation to kill cancer cells, but it may also damage healthy cells. The goal of modern radiation therapy is thus to deliver high doses of radiation to cancer cells as accurately as possible while avoiding damage to healthy cells.%u201cThis is what we call precision radiotherapy,%u201d explains Prof. Jing CAI, Department of Health Technology and Informatics, who led a research team HITTING THE BULLSEYE
