11Ir Prof. Yong XIA Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental EngineeringDirector, Joint Research Centre for Marine InfrastructureProf. Xia is a Fellow of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and his PhD from Nanyang Technological University. His major research area is the health monitoring of large-scale structures, including the Tsing Ma Bridge, Stonecutters Bridge, Canton Tower, Shanghai Tower and the Hong Kong%u2013Zhuhai%u2013Macao Bridge. He has co-authored three research books and over 170 journal papers. His main research focuses on the risk, resilience, and sustainability-informed design and life-cycle intelligent maintenance of assets under the effects of deterioration and climate change. His research group focuses on physicsguided deep learning, and digital twin-enabled intelligent maintenance. His recent applications include civil infrastructure, energy systems, and interdependent infrastructure systems.
