Academic Staff

Prof. Guo is an Assistant Professor jointly with the Department of Computing (COMP) and the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics (LSGI). He received his Ph.D., M.Phil., and B.Eng. degrees from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Waseda University, and Sichuan University, respectively, all in computer science and AI. From 2021 to 2022, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Sydney, where he was also a visiting Ph.D. from 2019 to 2020. He is generally interested in Efficient AI, which targets learning/modeling with limited resources in terms of data, computing capability, as well as their applications on wide spectrums, like smart cities, mobility, utility management, etc. He currently serves as Associate Editor for IEEE Open Journal of the Computer Society, Guest Editor for IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems, and Guest Editor for Complex & Intelligent Systems. He has served on the organization/program committee for several computer science conferences like ACM-MM 2025 (Dublin, Ireland), VTC 2024 Fall (Washington DC, USA), and SRDS 2022 (Vienna, Austria). He regularly serves as Area Chair and Senior Program Committee Member for prestigious venues like ICML, NeurIPS, ACM-MM, AAAI, IJCAI, etc. He is a member of IEEE and CCF.
