Summary

The International Union of Geodesy & Geophysics (IUGG) comprises eight Associations, covering different disciplines (cryosphere science, geomagnetism, geodesy, hydrology, meteorology, physical oceanography, seismology, and volcanology). The International Association of Geodesy (IAG) makes a significant contribution to all the Geosciences. Modern Geodesy uses advanced technologies for measuring the geometry of the Earth (including the use of GNSS), its orientation and rotation in space (in relation to stable reference frames), and its static and time-varying gravity field (using satellite gravity missions). The IAG operates several Services that are vital not only for science, but also support Geospatial and Navigation applications. This presentation will discuss some of the lessons that Geodesy can teach the other Geosciences with respect to increasing their visibility.

POSTER

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Zhong LI

Associate Professor

Department of Civil Engineering

McMaster University, Canada

Dr. Li is an Associate Professor and University Scholar in the Department of Civil Engineering at McMaster University, Canada. She has published 88 peer-reviewed journal articles, and her team has attracted over CAD $13 million in funding. Her methodologies for hybrid physics-and data-driven modeling, probabilistic prediction, and integrative systems optimization have been adopted by a wide range of end users, including municipal wastewater treatment plants, world-leading environmental services and infrastructure companies and Indigenous communities.
