Exploring socio spatial inequalities in urban mobility

Speaker

Dr Chen ZHONG

Summary

One critical topic in discussions on sustainable urban development is transport-related inequality, which questions whether certain population groups are disadvantaged about mobility, accessibility, connectivity, inclusion, etc. This requires powerful analytical methods, new data sources and evidence from broader empirical studies. In this seminar, Chen will report their research progress achieved in the RESOLUTION and SIMETRI (https://simetri.uk/about-the-projectproject, which addressed socio-spatial inequality in urban mobility based on accessibility measures and spatial data mining.

Dr Chen Zhong is Associate Professor in Urban Analytics at the Bartlett Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA), UCL. Her current research agenda focuses on urban mobility with strengths developed in the use of emerging big data and advanced spatial data science methods, addressing broad transport-related issues in the context of urban development. Recently, she has been awarded an ERC starting grant- realTRIPS: Redefining Variability: EvALuating Land Use and TRansport Impacts on Urban Mobility PatternS ( realTRIPS).
