Background

With a view to motivating local universities to accelerate the adoption of necessary pedagogical changes and innovations, UGC announced two calls in mid-2012 and mid-2016 respectively to all UGC-funded institutions for competitive bidding of inter-institutional teaching and learning funds totalling HK$82 million for the first call and HK$200 million for the second call.

PolyU’s Results

  UGC Funding Scheme for Teaching & Learning Related Proposals (2016-2019 Triennium)  
  PolyU submitted 11 proposals to UGC and 8 proposals (73% success rate) requesting funding of HK$85.8 million (34% of the total funding) are selected for funding. In other words, PolyU’s success rate is 30% higher than the overall success rate for the scheme. Out of the eight funded projects, three are in the Innovation category (a); three on Enhancement of Student Learning Experience (b); one on Enhancement of Internationalisation and Engagement with Mainland China (c); and one on Language Enhancement (d).
