Visit to The Helena May

On 25 October a sunny and relaxing Saturday morning, 25 alumni and friends joined SHTMAA for a visit to experience the old world elegance at The Helena May, a unique heritage building in the heart of Hong Kong since its door opened in 1916.

Taken care by Ms. Betty Simpson, General Manager of the Club, participants explored a piece of Hong Kong history and enjoyed the gracious historic building, including the rare opportunity to visit the guestrooms which are for female residents only and one of the finest English-language libraries in Hong Kong. All enjoyed themselves and networked with each other enthusiastically while sampling traditional English in a casual and joyful atmosphere.

Geo Park & Seafood Lunch Expedition

On 29 November, 16 alumni and family joined a local tour organized by SHTMAA to enjoy the leisure and fantastic scenery of Sai Kung’s Geo Park.

Getting close to the scenic seascapes made up of wave-cut landforms, participants were all amazed by the striking and massive hexagonal rock columns along the way. Rock features like foldings and faults are easily found from rocks in the park, making the site a vivid outdoor geological classroom. All enjoyed a day with coastal vistas and lovely sea breeze and savoured a delicious seafood feast after the tour.

This tour presented a valuable opportunity for us to learn and appreciate what a natural and green international metropolis Hong Kong is.
