Home > Online Sharings Fashion Waste in Hong Kong

About the sharing

While the world of fashion may seem glamorous from the outside, it is one of our planet’s most polluting industries, affecting everything from our land to our water – and even the air that we breathe. In Hong Kong alone, we send around 196 tonnes of clothing (that’s 1.3 million t-shirts) to landfill every single day!

In this online sharing session, the speaker will explore with the participants on issues like:

  • how we are designing, making, buying, using and disposing of our clothes;
  • issues around overproduction and overconsumption;
  • the impact that it is having on people and our planet, both locally and globally; and
  • innovative new industry technologies and business models promising a more sustainable future.

The speaker will also talk about the work that NGO Redress is doing with consumers and designers to raise awareness of these issues and drive behavioral change.
