Views sought on decarbonisation

The Council for Sustainable Development starts the public engagement exercise on the Long-term Decarbonisation Strategy, aiming to raise public awareness of the impact of carbon emissions and gauge community views on developing feasible carbon reduction strategies. It has released a Public Engagement Document to highlight three main topics for discussion, including transition towards a low-carbon society, reducing energy use and further decarbonising electricity generation, and low-carbon transport in a smart city. With views sought from the public, the Council plans to make recommendations to the Government by the end of this year. Regional forums, a youth forum, school activities, and briefing sessions will be held according in the coming three months to collect feedback from members of the public.

More background and details of the public engagement can be read from the Council’s dedicated website at https://www.susdev.org.hk/
