PolyU
Newsletter January 2022

This newsletter issue includes updates about the Admissions Seminar series, scheduled from late January to February, in which current students share their experiences with prospective students. This year the Application Chat Room continues. Click here for the Local non-JUPAS one and here for the Non-Local students chatroom. We also provide updates on PolyU admissions and share a Malaysian student’s account of her life here at PolyU.

As the application deadlines are approaching, please do remember that the earlier you submit your application, the higher your chances are of being accepted and receiving a scholarship offer.

We wish you a happy Lunar New Year and wish you lots of energy and good spirit in the coming year!

Best wishes,
Global Engagement Office

Countdown to the PolyU undergraduate programme application deadline

The undergraduate application deadline for international students is 9:00 am on 1 March 2022, which is only a few weeks away. We recommend giving yourself plenty of time to complete your application as there is quite a bit to do. You don’t have to complete it all in one go, but do make sure that you read through the items that you need to complete and upload, particularly your personal statement. Don’t leave submission and application fee settlement until the last minute, as you may end up missing the deadline.

Check the PolyU online application portal for updates about your application status. Students requiring an interview will be notified. Admission results will also be updated on the same portal after the interview.

Undergraduate Admissions Seminars and Student Sharing

From late January to the end of February, the Global Engagement Office will deliver a series of admissions seminars for prospective students. The seminars will cover

  • PolyU rankings and highlights
  • Special features of the new departmental scheme-based admission
  • Different inbound and outbound learning opportunities for students
  • Financing and facilities
  • Our admission criteria

We have also invited our current students to share with you their first-hand experience living in Hong Kong and studying at PolyU. You wouldn’t want to miss the chance to talk with them and get their insider tips.

Register for the seminar that best suits your schedule.

Click here for more information about the schemes and programmes. Take the pressure off by talking to one of our advisors to find out what is right for you. Book an advising appointment.

Student story: ‘Hong Kong, compact but vibrant and eventful’

Student name: Jia Xuan Tan

I’m from: Malaysia

Programme: BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy

Year of study: Year 2

Having the knowledge that enables one to influence the physical and mental health of a person is truly special. Occupational therapy is a profession through which one can educate others about the body and about how to achieve health and wellness. PolyU is the sole provider of UGC-funded programmes in occupational therapy. The occupational therapy programme offered by PolyU is professionally recognised. I look forward to the challenging and fulfilling work set by the programme to help people regain wellness and live a healthy and purposeful life. I am also attracted to the overseas exchange and study opportunities afforded by the programme, most of which are fully or partially financially supported by the university. I was keen to study somewhere far enough from home to encourage me to become more independent, but close enough for me to be able to go home and visit my family and friends occasionally with a short flight, making PolyU the perfect place for me.
