24 Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology State Key Laboratory of Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery focuses on organic synthesis, catalysis and chemical biology research since its inception in 2010. Our three major objectives are: • to synthesise and develop novel compounds and natural products as drug candidates; • to research and develop new pharmaceuticals and health products; • to explore and develop new molecular techniques for drug discovery. Lo Ka Chung Research Centre for Natural Anti-Cancer Drug Development focuses on designing new cancer drugs through increasing the efficacy of natural compounds and proteins. Our Centre also provides drug development technical support and consultancy services to industry. Henry Cheng Research Laboratory for Drug Development provides state-ofthe-art technology platforms including flow cytometer, confocal microscopy, thermo fisher scientific system and a high-performance liquid chromatography machine. Centre for Carbon-Strategic Catalysis aims to offer a comprehensive platform to achieve more impactful outputs on the advanced catalyst design and synthesis for sustainable energy development strategies, with a long-term vision for significant contribution to carbon neutrality.
