Mass Spectrom. 2012, 23, 1209-1220 Dr DONG Nai-ping Research Assistant Professor Research Overview Dr Dong's research mainly focuses on the analysis of large-scale metabolomics and proteomics data derived from liquidchromatography hyphenated by tandem mass spectrometry using machine learning algorithms and statistical methods, to develop easy-to-use tools and algorithms to answer the biological questions at hand accurately and confidently. This includes (i) the identification of metabolites, proteins and protein post-translational modifications (ii) the quantifications of these biological molecules (iii) the interpretations of the analytical results for answering biological questions, e.g., discovery of biomarkers related to a disease, using machine learning algorithms and statistical methods Currently, Dr Dong’s research aims to understand the physiological mechanisms in ageing and ageing-related diseases and the health benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicines using multi-omics (metabolomics and proteomics) techniques, to provide scientific evidence for the medical community and general public support and promoting their proper use.
