This workshop centered on the theme of "Integrating Generative AI in Flipped Learning Environments," systematically exploring how university professors can leverage AI tools to enhance student engagement and learning.
Dr Jennifer Ogg Wilson, Director of the AdvancED Office of Education Design and Development at Vanderbilt University, structured the exploration through several components:
Firstly, she clarified the context and potential of generative AI in flipped classroom settings. Subsequently, she demonstrated practical strategies for meeting students’ diverse learning needs, including personalised content creation, interactive classroom activities, and individualised tutoring. Dr Wilson then articulated key elements of effective prompt engineering and shared creative examples of using generative AI to boost student motivation and understanding. The session also addressed essential considerations such as AI literacy and ethical implications, highlighting both the benefits and limitations of AI integration.
During the collaborative discussion segment, participants engaged in guided examples and shared insights on using generative AI to facilitate deeper learning experiences. The session concluded with an open Q&A, allowing for further exploration of responsible technology integration in teaching practice.
We appreciate everyone who attended and actively participated in the discussions. Thank you for making the workshop a success!
