I am pleased to present this sixth issue of the Faculty magazine.

Web-based and telecom technologies have permeated every aspect of our lives. In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, we are going remote - online learning, online shopping, online banking, online meeting, and so on and so forth. Navigating a virtual world, CEOs lead their organizations remotely while rethinking investment priorities and company strategies. Employees communicate and work with minimal in-person contact. The shift to remote operation has been more abrupt than anyone could have expected. For businesses, the successful transition from physical to digital contributes to streamlining operations, enhancing collaboration with partners and creating customer value, thereby gaining differentiation and a competitive edge in the market.

To help individuals and organizations leverage data analysis, digital technology application and integration, the Faculty recently launched a series of academic programmes - Doctor of FinTech, MSc in Accounting and Finance Analytics, and MSc in Business Analytics. We established the Digital Transformation Centre last year as a platform for collaboration and knowledge transfer between academia and industry.

This issue of the magazine examines Digital Transformation and Leadership and highlights Faculty members’ research publications and research projects. It also shares findings of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) / Doctor of Management (DMgt) community in this area. Young graduates who grew up in this information age are active users of social media and networking technologies. Their stories relate how novel ideas and new tools empower them to explore and walk on untrodden paths.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world. It has prompted all of us - teachers and students, organizations and employees, enterprises and customers - to embrace new challenges and adopt new ways of learning, working and interacting. It will prove that individuals, communities, workforces, and governments that are resilient to disruption and responsive to change can gain strong positions in the long run.
