COBRA

COBRA (Conversational Brains)

Funded by

European Union's Horizon 2020

Co-PI
Prof. Huang Chu-Ren(CBS)

Funding Amount

€4,000,000

Introduction

The purpose of the COBRA project is to train the next generation of researchers to accurately characterise and model the linguistic, cognitive and brain mechanisms that allow conversation to unfold in both human-human and human-machine interactions. The network includes world-level academic research centres on language, cognition and the human brain as well as four non-academic partners that include fast-developing SMEs and one world-level company. The partners’ both unique combined expertise and high complementarity will allow COBRA to offer Early-Stage Researchers an excellent training programme as well as very strong exposure to the non-academic sector.
This ITN (innovative training network) project consists of a consortium of 17 members (nine formal members and eight partner organisations, with PolyU being the only non-EU member). The partners include:
Academic Institutions: Aix-Marseille University, University of Edinburgh, Catholic University of Louvain, Free University-Berlin, Helsinki University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Humboldt University, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (Italian Institute of Technology), MaxPlank Institute – Psycholinguistics, Università degli Studi di Ferrara, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Slovak University of Technology in Brastislava, and KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm
Industry: (mostly tech companies) DAVI, Furhat, Orange, ReadSpeak
