: Developing and Piloting Electronic Systems to Facilitate the Implementation of an Enhanced Teaching Evaluation System at PolyU
Major Accomplishments during the Implementation of an Enhanced Teaching Evaluation System at PolyU
Below is a list of major accomplishments of the project on the implementation of an enhanced teaching evaluation system at PolyU.
- The system was expanded to cater for the use of eSFQ for all subjects.
- The process of loading AS and HR data was automated into the eSFQ system.
- Subject teachers were enabled to send email reminder to students via the eSFQ system.
- Data analytic functions were implemented.
- Paper-based SFQ reports (2009-2013) were uploaded to the eSFQ ssytem.
- Departmental averages and faculty cumulative norms were uploaded to the eSFQ system for staff's reference and use.
- An interactive tool for interpreting SFQ scores was integrated into the eSFQ system.
- A pilot implementation of the enhanced system with all GUR and some selected DSR subjects was conducetd in 2013/14.
- A full-scale pilot implementation fo the enhanced system with all subjects was conducted in 2014/15.
- A full implementation of the enhanced system was effective from 2015/16 onwards.
- A mobile version of the eSFQ system was developed.
- A facility for subject teachers to send email reminder to students via the eSFQ system was developed.
- FAQs on eSFQ for students was published: https://hkpx222.polyu.edu.hk/esfqstud/about.zul)
- eSFQ promotional materials were developed and they include:
- a pamphlet on eSFQ for students
- 3 promotional video featuring 3 academic staff to encourage students to do the eSFQ
- posters and banners for publicity
- dedicated Blackboard module on LEARN@PolyU and banner on the student portal
- email and SMS invitations and reminders
- A facility for University SFQ Administrators was developed to export a list of non-respondents to study and explore other interventions to promote student participation.
- A comparative study on the response rates, validity and reliability of eSFQ vs paper-based, in-class SFQ; report and recommendations were submitted to LTC for information and decision.
- A report on the study was published in a peer-reviewed journal.
- A brief report on the full-scale pilot implementation of the eSFQ system in Semester 1, 2014/15 was submitted to LTC for information.
- A discussion paper on Operational Guidelines for Implementing eSFQ at PolyU was submitted to LTC for deliberation.
- Some operational guidelines for implementing the eSFQ at PolyU was published.
- A brief report on the full-scale pilot implementation of the eSFQ system in Semester 2, 2014/15 was submitted to LTC for information.
- A paper on the implementation of the eSFQ system from 2015/16 onwards was submited to AC for decision.
- Some user manuals and aids were prepared and published for departments and staff on the eSFS system.
- A teaching e-Portfolio system prototype (www.polyu.edu.hk/etp/) was developed based on the University policies, guidelines and workflow.
- A user acceptance testin g(UAT) sessions, pilots, demonstration sessions and workshops were conducted to collect feedback for system enhancements.
- A user manual was developed and published for staff on the eTP system.
- The system prototype was enhanced based on the collected feedback.
