Details about the Online Courses
The online eLearning courses of "Climate Change and Society (LSGI1B02)" and "Remote Sensing (LSGI3321A)" are available to university students as a CAR subject, and our HD, BSc, MSc students respectively. The teaching materials , videos, lecture slides, supplementary information, tests, final exam, pre- and post-surveys and other relevant information were included in the course.
Videos were taken in the lectures of LSGI1B02 and LSGI3321A and two field visists including the visits to the Hong Kong Science Museum Urban Heat Island Exhibition and the Hong Kong Observatory. For the videos taken in the lectures, all video production and editing works were finished and incorporated in our in-house open edX platform, They were divided into several small sessions and each of them is about 5 minutes. Figures and slides were included in the videos as shown in Figure 1. Subtitles were also added to all videos to provide better instructions/descriptions to the students. Videos were also taken to introduce the field works of Urban Heat Island effect and the Urban Heat Island Exhibition in the Hong Kong Science Museum. Moreover, the real time dust storm information from the Hong Kong Dust Storm Warning System (developed by our team) are furnished for students' reference.

Relevant supplementary information are provided associated with the videos as shown in Figure 2. Students can learn more about the lecture contents by diverse ways such as journal articles, websites, or videos on YouTube. The diversity of teaching materials can also raise the students' interest on eLearning. There is a quiz at the end of each sub-topic. The purpose of having the quizzes is to consolidate students' knowledge and understanding on the topic. At the end of the course, a final examination is prepared for students in order to evaluate students' performance and understanding of the whole course.

"Discussion" was set up in our open edX platform. Students can raise questions and discuss with other classmates and teaching staff. It provides another pathway for them to exchange ideas, explore more and learn from each other. Another channel for students to exchange information is "Wiki", If students find some latest relevant information, they can upload them to "Wiki" so as to share with other classmates.
