: Developing an Inter-professional Student-led Wellness Clinic

Wellness Clinic Business Plan Competition

Description

The first phase of this project was an open competition where student teams would come up with their preventive healthcare business model based on their research of the prevailing healthcare needs of the community. In this phase, business (FB) students consulted their rehabilitation science (RS) counterparts to get deeper insight into possible scope of services to offer. The business models were judged based on their feasibility and ability to address identified needs. To encourage creativity in coming up with the business model for the student-run wellness clinic, students were given few boundaries on the type of preventive healthcare to deliver. A panel of business and healthcare professionals evaluated all business models. The first phase concluded with the selection of one winning business model. The winning model was one focused on fall prevention in retirees and seniors by blending of physiotherapy exercises into light dance routines that was fun and yet developed a better sense of balance in individuals.
