Objectives:
- To develop students’ communication skills and understand their professional role on an identified community issues
- To develop students’ leadership and entrepreneurial drive through raising their awareness and motivation
- To develop the entrepreneurial capabilities needed to identify and utilise business opportunities by immersing them in a real hands-on opportunity
- To utilise creative thought processes to solve real business issues and community needs.
Remarks:
The main implications also unearthed through this study is that there is room for expanding such learning opportunities to other disciplines such as nursing, optometry and others where students have much to gain from applying inter-professional learning in a real-life situation, while at the same time making a meaningful contribution to their community. PolyU is a leader in the education of many of the allied health professions, and this project signifies the immense benefits that can be reaped in such projects. With the rising cost of primary healthcare in Hong Kong, more individuals are increasingly willing to purchase and learn more about preventive methods that can be intertwined into their daily lives today, rather than waiting for when they are struck by illness.
