: The Development of Confidence through Collaborative Learning - Pre-WIE Development Programme

Pre-WIE Training Workshops to Students

Description

There are three main types of workshops, focusing on:

  1. writing curriculum vitae (CVs), to help second-year students develop concise CVs;
  2. interviewing techniques, to enable students to gain insights into the essential skills and preparatory work for their interviews; and
  3. employers' expectations, to share first-hand information on the kinds of attitudes and abilities employers are seeking.

Evaluation/Comments

Twenty-one students from Years 1 and 2 participated in workshop (2) above. A questionnaire was administered and the results showed that the respondents generally agreed that the workshop was highly informative. It was encouraging to find from the students' feedback that they were looking forward to other seminars on WIE in the future.

The findings from the survey on this Pre-WIE programme were positive, showing that it can help students to make a smoother transition to the workplace and develop positive attitudes and useful preparatory skills before participating in WIE activities. Through these different workshops and activities, they have become more aware of the need for employability development, and this programme can help to boost their confidence in seeking better career opportunities.
