(TDG 2005/09)

Other Members: Dr. Karen Pui Yee Liu [RS], Ms Rebecca Suk Man Wong [RS]

Objectives:

The project makes use of the real-time tele-conferencing system between PolyU and a clinical setting to facilitate students' learning of clinical cases through interactive and instant demonstration. The aim of the clinical classroom is to enhance students' learning of case management and professional skills through a virtual base system.

Remarks:

In comparing the satisfaction of students in different academic years, the overall level was maintained with minor variations between items. The students expressed most satisfaction with the usefulness of the learning contents and the interaction with the clinical educator.

This teaching learning method also provided a favourable environment for students, patients and therapists. The patients and therapists could stay in the clinical setting while a large group of students could observe the demonstrations without extensive travelling or disturbing the routine of the clinical setting.

The academic colleagues also communicated with the clinical educators on  the current practice regime and specific case management. Updates on clinical practice can then be reinforced, which helps to bridge the gap between academic teaching and clinical practice.
