What is internationalisation and why do it at home? Early on, the Internationalisation at Home (IaH) team recognised that when developing students to be global citizens, the process is life-long and requires them to be responsive to an increasingly diverse, complex and uncertain world.

In this interactive workshop, we aim to share our experiences, successes, and cautions in implementing Internationalisation at Home (IaH) at PolyU. The session will provide insights into the successful integration of IaH into our educational practices, and delve into the process of developing cultural sensitivity. As educators, in order for us to appreciate the process of developing cultural sensitivity, there is a need for us to learn about our implicit biases through reflective questions. Equally important is our understanding of how to create a culturally safe learning environment. This requires us to be inclusive and work through our implicit biases/values with others when we collaborate in teams, especially with those from other cities and nationalities, such as in the context of IaH. Join us as we explore the concept of being all one but different, different but the same, and how this understanding can help gain insights into ourselves, serving as the first step towards working more effectively with diverse teams and developing more inclusive educational practices.
