Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is gaining increasing recognition for its contributions to teaching and learning in higher education.  PolyU supports teachers to improve student learning based on evidence they collect from the teaching and learning process. This seminar is the inaugural session of a series of seminars on SoTL. Professor Daniel Shek, with his extensive experience and knowledge of publishing educational writings, will share his thoughts on engaging the PolyU community in scholarly educational research across the university, with the following focus:

-        What is SoTL? What does “becoming a scholarly teacher” mean?
-        Why is SoTL important for university teaching?  What is the value of committing to SoTL?
-        How can we get started in SoTL?

It will also discuss how teaching and learning related projects can connect to SoTL and make an impact on student learning.
