Associate Professor and Associate Head in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, is honoured for his excellent performance and achievements in Teaching. Mr Frankland is a long serving staff, having worked in the University since August 1979. Mr Frankland has played a prominent and active role in successfully steering the department’s degree programmes through a variety of validations, revalidations, and accreditations with professional bodies. In the last few years when Learning Teaching Development (LTD) grants became available from the UGC, he was instrumental in securing four departmental LTD grants for the department, with a total funding of over HK$3.7 million. During this time, he has also been active in other LTD grants for the University. In last year alone, he was awarded a HK$4.95 million grant from the UGC for the project “Teaching and Learning through Assessment”. Mr Frankland has been exemplary in the development and adoption of innovative teaching methodologies and has widely practiced a problem-based learning approach in his teaching. He has attained very favorable student and peer opinions and served as a facilitator and presenter in various Educational Development Centre (EDC) workshops. Anyone who knows or has worked with him would agree that Mr Frankland is a most active and dedicated teacher. Over the years, he has demonstrated leadership and made prominent contributions towards teaching and learning at both departmental and University level.
