Suggested activity to develop the habit of self-regulation of learning: Set Goals, Make Plans and Reflect

  • At the beginning of the semester, ask students to draft a proposal to explain their learing goals for your subject or their project or assignment, formulate an action plan with timelines, list the resources and support they need, and set performance indicators to explain how to measure the achievement of their goals.
  • During the process, ask students to keep record of what they have done and any problems they have encountered.
  • Towards the end of the semester, give them a reflective exercise to review their learning process, and reflect on the results and outcomes to understand their development and growth as a learner and explore new learning goals to improve themselves and their learning ability.
