Celebration Dinner
On 7 December 2017, some 2,000 local and overseas guests attended the University’s 80th Anniversary Celebration Dinner, reuniting PolyU members, friends and alumni from various eras and marking the finale of the year-long celebratory activities. Chief Executive the Hon Mrs Carrie Lam, joined by a stage party of over 40 distinguished guests, officiated a glittering lighting ceremony.
World-renowned pianist and University Fellow Mr Lang Lang gave a stunning performance. The President’s Band also took the stage with special guests, including Secretary for Development the Hon Michael Wong, Secretary for Food and Health Prof. the Hon Sophia Chan, as well as University Fellows Dr Raymond Chan and Miss Cally Kwong.

To celebrate its 80th anniversary, the University has published a book to showcase the PolyU spirit to the wider community through 80 touching stories of staff, students and alumni.
80th Anniversary Commemorative Album
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the institution, PolyU published a commemorative album titled “Deep Roots • Sheltering Leaves • Decade of Influence”, recapping through photos the many landmark occasions and memorable milestones from its humble beginnings to the present in which the PolyU community can justly take pride.♦
