INTRODUCTION

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) play important roles in atmospheric chemistry, which in turn affects climate, air quality and human health. VOCs are emitted from natural and anthropogenic sources. It is therefore important to timely institute ground-based sites, aircraft platforms and satellite observations for long-term and intensive short-term measurements of VOCs with quality assurance.

The aim of the workshop is to review the progress in global VOCs observations, to discuss new and emerging measurement techniques, to assess the methodologies in data quality assurance and global data archiving, and to explore the role of VOCs in atmospheric chemistry. It is our hope that this VOC Expert workshop will be a showcase for local research and researchers.

WORKSHOP THEMES

Instrumentation, measurements and data quality assurance

Spatial-temporal variations of VOCs and their sources

Role of VOCs in atmospheric chemistry

Toxicity and health impacts of VOCs

Emission control of VOCs
