Fig. 1 Typhoon Wipha's path map

Typhoon Wipha entered within 100 km of the coastline at 07:00 on 20 July 2025, initiating coastal activities. Its trajectory remained largely parallel to the coastline, exhibiting typical 'coast-stalling' characteristics. Until 20:00 on 21 July 2025, the typhoon's center consistently stayed within 100 km of the coastline, continuously impacting coastal regions.

The TRS team members Mr. Huan Yue, Mr. De-Hui Ouyang, Ms. Ling-Yi Diao, Mr. Min Deng, and Mr. Xin-Yuan Liu conducted field investigations in Kowloon and Hong Kong Island on 21 July 2025. Findings include: 18 locations with snapped tree trunks or completely uprooted large trees, 5 locations with damaged public facilities (road signs, billboards, playground equipment, construction machinery), 5 locations with building damage (tilted scaffolding, fallen billboards, peeling facades), 2 locations with shattered curtain walls on high-rise buildings.
