Develop “Get Your Hands Dirty” Flipped-Lab with Us

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), as one of the collaborating universities, is going to adopt the flipped laboratory framework (flipped-lab) entitled “Get Your Hands Dirty” to develop the content and produce series of self-directed and self-paced online technical skills training modules to nurture innovative minds of the engineering students. The training modules may include videos and other relevant resources. Before producing the online materials, our project team would like to set up face-to-face meetings with programme leaders of all engineering departments to understand students’ needs in different engineering aspects.

Programme leaders of all engineering departments are cordially invited to collaborate with our project team in two modes:

  1. Meeting our project team face-to-face (individually or as a group) for about 30 minutes to 1 hour to discuss:
    • essential technical skills engineering students should have while fostering their innovation and entrepreneurial mind-sets;
    • levels of different technical skills to cater different learning needs; and
    • existing resources provided to students.
  2. Working with us closely in the production of videos and related learning materials with your concepts to cater different learning needs.

Topics of the learning modules may be, but not limited to:
woodwork, metalwork, 3D modeling, 3D printing, soldering, machining, circuit design, apps design, basic robotics, and powertools training. The online modules are accessible to all students of the collaborating universities.

Please contact our Project Associate Dr. Miki Lau at miki.lau@polyu.edu.hk for more details and the arrangement of our meeting time and venue.
