In the Outstanding Student Awards (2011-12) organized by the Chartered Institute of Building (Hong Kong), one alumni of the Department of Building and Real Estate (BRE) was rewarded for her final year dissertation announced on 10 October 2012. Under the bachelor degree category, Ms Wong Lai Ching, Cherry was one of the three prize winners with her feasibility study of extensive green roof applications in Hong Kong new private residential buildings. She was a full-time surveying degree graduate in June 2012 and was supervised by Dr Daniel W.M. Chan, Associate Professor of BRE.

The primary goals of these awards are to promote excellence in project management in construction and to recognize students with outstanding academic achievements. The awards were based on the quality of student’s own work for final year project/dissertation completed in the academic year 2011-12, the contents of which should be focused on the pertinent aspects of construction project management. The winner received an award certificate and a prize cheque of HK$4,000 at the CIOB(HK) Annual Dinner 2012 held on 19 October 2012.
