課程簡介

 

本課程具有統計、決策分析和計算科技的三合一複合型知識結構,加上財務及金融實務的培訓,使學生充分掌握分析和解決計劃決策問題的技巧。此外,學生將會接受統計,決策分析、電子計算,商業應用各科目的訓練。

 

Programme Aims

 

We provide balanced and sound training in statistics, decision analysis and the latest computing technology, including e-commerce and Internet computing. You will gain a solid foundation in problem-solving skills to tackle planning and decision-making problems, with special relevance to business and finance. You will also receive in-depth training in topics selected from statistics, decision analysis, computing and business applications.


This programme will be particularly appealing to Higher Diploma and Associate Degree graduates who are working in the financial sector or in computing or statistics-related industries and wish to gain an honours degree to enhance their careers.

 

Characteristics

 

The programme provides practical training in statistics, decision analysis and computing technology with applications in business.

The statistics and decision analysis components will equip you with advanced analytical and quantitative techniques. The computing components will train you in up to date computing technology including e-commerce, Internet computing and data mining. The business components will acquaint you with contemporary practices and analytical techniques in finance and investment.

 

Programme Structure

 

  • Year One: You will take Compulsory Subjects in mathematics, statistics, business/finance and computing. These will form the essential foundation for more specialised study in later stages.
  • Year Two: In addition to studying statistics and computing, you will be introduced to concepts and contemporary practices in finance.
  • Year Three: You will learn more advanced quantitative techniques with choices of Elective Subjects.

All lectures and tutorials are on weekday evenings with two to four classes a week, averaging six to twelve hours.

 

Entrance Requirements

 

  • A Higher Diploma or Associate Degree in Science, Engineering, Computing/Information Technology or a business discipline from PolyU;
    OR
  • A similar qualification at an appropriate level from another educational establishment or the equivalent.

Alternative Entry Routes

 

  Applicants with the following qualifications may be given credit transfers of up to 30 credits.

  • A Higher Diploma in Mathematics, Statistics and Computing from PolyU;
    OR
  • A Higher Diploma in Statistics and Computing for Business from PolyU;
    OR
  • A Post-experience Diploma/Associateship in Applied Statistics from PolyU;
    OR
  • A Higher Diploma in Applied Statistics and Computing from the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE);
    OR

  • An Associate Degree in Statistics and Computing for Business from the Hong Kong Community College (PolyU).
