This page provides solutions to some frequently asked questions that are commonly submitted by students to the IT Online ServiceDesk system.

Course Access Right

There is no location restriction of LEARN@PolyU. But, some special Internet Service Providers (ISPs) may limit internet access to their users. If you cannot access LEARN@PolyU, please contact your network administrator for help.

Course Content

Please contact course instructor or teaching assistant (TA) to reset the release date of the notes.
To manage the courses, please follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the "gear" icon (“Manage My Courses Module Settings”) on the top right corner of the course list

2. Click on the “gear” icon and a page called Personalize: My Courses will be directed

3. Users can group the courses by term or select the attributes to be displayed for each course

Test / Survey

Please contact your instructor or teaching assistant (TA) immediately. They will help you reset your test/survey.
The LMS / Blackboard support team is not authorized to reset the test option. If you encounter any technical problem and couldn’t access the test, please contact the course instructor/TA immediately. They will help to reset the test and enable test/survey re-attempt.

Turnitin

To submit Turnitin assignment, please follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the Assignment page and find target assignment with Turnitin logo
2. Click View/Complete below the title of Turnitin assignment
3. Click Submit button
4. Choose a file you want to upload to Turnitin
5. Click Upload button
6. Click Confirm button

After your assignment is submitted, your first Originality Report will be generated within 15 minutes. The generation time of originality report may vary, which due to the file size and system intensive processing during certain periods of the academic year.

You can find the Similarity Index in the Similarity column, after re-entering the Turnitin Assignment via View/Complete button. You could click the percentage to view detail in a popup window called Turnitin Document Viewer.

Note: If you cannot view similarity percentage under the Similarity column, the Originality Report may be set unavailable to student users by the course instructor. If you would like to view or receive a copy of the Originality Report, please contact your course instructor.

Note: If you overwrite/resubmit a paper, it may take more than 24h to generate a new Originality Report. This kind of delay is to avoid wrong content matching/checking with previous submission. You could click the ‘printer’ icon to download the report.

Please check whether you could login e-student and IdPortal. If you cannot login, please reset your password at https://idportal.polyu.edu.hk/ForgotNetPassword/. Should you have any further problems, please feel free to contact us via IT Online ServiceDesk.

Bb Mobile

To access Blackboard via mobile device, please follow these steps:
1. Download the Blackboard Mobile Learn Application from App Store/Play Store.
2. To login:
1) Search your institution The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
2) *Login with your NetID and Password

*Click Guest Login if you are using guest account.

Users are advised to view the User Guide here.

Others

You can update your personal information by following these steps:

1. Navigate to the top right corner of the page, click the arrow button beside your name

2. Click Settings button under the drop down menu

3. Click Personal Information button to update your information accordingly

Note: Please make a request through IT Online ServiceDesk if you would like to change your Chinese name or English name.
To check grades on Blackboard, please follow these steps:
1. Login LEARN@PolyU as student
2. Access the Blackboard course in which the grade has been assigned
3. Click on My Grades, click on Tools under course menu and find My Grades
4. If you cannot find My Grades, click on Tools under course menu and find My Grades

If you still cannot view your grade, please check with your instruction ASAP.
