Welcome to the PolyU Communities of Practice Website

In 2012, PolyU established five thematic Communities of Practice (CoPs) to echo one of UGC’s strategies for revitalising teaching and learning at both the system and institutional levels. The five CoPs brought about groups of enthusiastic colleagues around the campus and fostered a culture of peer support. More importantly, the peer-led activities have nourished pedagogic development and scholarship for enhancing the quality of learning and teaching in the university.

In the current triennium covering 2016-2019, six thematic CoPs have been developed. They are,

  • Academic Advising
  • Conducting Learning Analytics to Inform Teaching and Learning
  • Developing, Recognising and Rewarding Excellent Teaching
  • Service-Learning
  • Technology-enhanced Teaching and Learning
  • Using English for Academic Success

Following the path in the first round, the new CoPs will continue their endeavour to ConnectShare, Learn and Grow. It is our target to connect more teachers and stakeholders, to further enhance our skills, and and to create broader impact in the next three years. The website which you browse provides you with the resources and schedule of the upcoming events of these CoPs. I trust that you will find it useful and hope that it will give you some taste of being part of the CoP. Of course, we very much would want you to join one of the CoPs to become part of this big family.

I deeply appreciate the efforts made by leaders and members of the CoPs and the impacts made on enhancing the quality of learning and teaching for the teachers and our students. Wish you all the best!
