Promotion of CoP to New PolyU Teaching Staff

Dr Stephen Chan (facilitator of Service Learning CoP) and Ms. Grace Lim (co-facilitator of Enhancing Students' English Abilities CoP) introduced CoP to "Certificate in Introduction to University Teaching" students. This mandatory programme, conducted by Educational Development Centre, is for full-time PolyU staff who are new to teaching. Students are eager to understand more about the university initiative, get support from others who have similar interest and make professional developments.

On behalf of all CoP facilitators and co-faciiltators, Ms. Katherine Shum (co-facilitator of Academic Advising CoP) introduced CoP to "Certificate in Introduction to University Teaching" students. This mandatory programme, conducted by Educational Development Centre, is for full-time PolyU staff who are new to teaching. Students are eager to understand more about CoP, get support from others who have similar interest and make professional developments.

A Forum on Communities of Practice in Hong Kong

This knowledge exchange forum featured short presentations by representatives from MTR Corporation, China Light & Power (CLP), Hong Kong Police Force, Huawei, and PolyU, which have established their own CoPs. These representatives gathered together to share their experiences on how to cultivate a CoP to enhance knowledge sharing, learning and other purposes. More than 70 participants attended the forum and discussed the establishment of their CoPs, the purposes that they served, the nurturing progress of these CoPs, and the critical factors of succeeding in and sustaining the impact of CoPs.

Pre-launch of the Five Thematic CoPs
At the “Excellent Teachers Teaching Excellence” 2013 Symposium held in May 2013, we had a pre-launch ceremony to announce the establishment of the five CoPs and certificates were presented to some faculty members to recognize their enthusiasm and concerted efforts in driving these five CoPs as facilitators and co-facilitators.
Professor Chetwyn Chan, Associate Vice President (L&T), was presenting certificates to representatives of CoP members as recognition of CoP members’ contribution.
