Transferring a subject website from WebCT 4.1 archive server
to the WebCT 4.1 production server
To transfer a subject web site from archive server to the
production server, please follow two major steps:

Backup the subject web site on archive server into a "zip" file and
download to your computer
- Upload the backup "zip" file to production server and restore it by
the function "Keep users".
Step
1 is listed below in details: Backup a subject web site on archive
server ( http://webctarc.polyu.edu.hk/ )
- Login to WebCT , and click a link to access the Home Page of
a course
- Click "Manage Course" on top left corner of the Home page
- On the "Manage Course" page, click the link "Backup Course"
at the bottom right under "Course Functions" for web site backup
- On the "Backup Course" page, select "Create backup" from the
drop down box on left side and click the "Go" button
- Enter a short description of the backup file if necessary.
Click the "Create" button to continue
- Click the "Continue "button after the backup process is
completed
- On the "Backup Course" page, choose the backup file at the
bottom; select Download" from the drop down box on right side and click
the "Go" button
- You may then save the backup "zip" file on desktop of your PC
or other location
- After finishing download the backup, choose the backup file
at the bottom; select "Delete" from the drop down box on right side and
click the "Go" button

2 is listed below in details: Upload and restore a subject web site
on production server ( http://webct2.polyu.edu.hk/ )
- Login to WebCT , and click a link to access the Home Page of
a course
- Click "Control Panel " on top left corner of the Home page
- Click "Manage Course"
- On the "Manage Course" page, click the link "Backup Course"
at the top of the right side
- On the "Backup Course" page, click "Upload backup" button
on the right side
- On the "Upload Backup File" page, click the "Browse" button
and locate the backup "zip" file from your PC and click "Open"
- After file name is displayed on the "Upload Backup File" page,
click the "Upload" button (if you had uploaded a backup file before,
you have to delete it before you could upload a new one)
- Choose this new backup file on "Backup Courses" page, click
"Keep users" button on right side and click the "Ok" button
- Click the "Continue" button when you see the message "Success:
The course has been restored"
