PolyU won championship of table tennis friendly match

PolyU and Warwick jointly hold 17th Congregation for IEBMP

President leads delegation to Toronto

PolyU beat the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in the final match and won the championship of the first friendly table tennis invitation match of senior administrators of higher education in Hong Kong held on 20 September.

The match, initiated by HKU, aimed to enhance friendship and mutual understanding amongst the University leadership in Hong Kong. All the eight government-funded higher education institutions in Hong Kong participated in the match.

The PolyU team was led by Prof. Ko Jan-ming, Vice President (Academic Staffing and Resources), who joined the opening ceremony with senior administrators from the higher education institutions. Our team members included:

  • Prof. Geoffrey Qiping Shen, Associate Dean of Faculty of Construction and Land Use & Head of Department of Building and Real Estate
  • Prof. C. K. Chan, Associate Dean of Faculty of Applied Science and Textiles & Associate Head of Department of Applied Mathematics
  • Dr F. T. Cheng, Associate Professor of Department of Applied Physics
  • Dr Steven Wei, Associate Professor of School of Accounting and Finance
  • Dr Leon Li, Assistant Professor of Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies
  • Miss Shirley W.C. Ko, Executive Officer of Department of Electronic and Information Engineering

The event's Guests of Honour, Professor Pan Yong-hua, Director General of Education Science & Technology Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government; and Mr Mak Chai-kwong, Permanent Secretary for Development (Works), played a friendly game in the afternoon to conclude the day's matches.
