New academic year commences

PolyU’s new academic year kicked off with a series of welcome ceremonies held on campus for its students on 1 September. This year sees the admission of 4,518 full-time students funded by the University Grants Committee, including 2,434 Bachelor’s degree and 2,084 higher diploma students.

There are also 35 international students from 14 countries pursuing their Bachelor’s degree studies and 247 Chinese mainland students joining the foundation programme at PolyU. In addition, more than 235 students from some 80 institutions in 18 countries across the world have been admitted to PolyU for exchange in the first semester.

In his welcoming address, PolyU President Professor Timothy W. Tong said, “We expect our students and graduates to become “practical dreamers” who possess professional expertise, a global outlook, good problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills to meet the needs of the region and rise to the challenges of the new global age.” Details >>
